This is Lindie Sue.

The shop is named after her. Her picture hangs in a gold frame on the pink wall above the register, where most shops put a logo.

Mom and daughter, one room on Thompson Avenue.

There is no head office and no buyer in another city. Two women in one family choose everything that comes through the door of 461 S Thompson Avenue, and one of them is usually the person who hands it to you.

They call it an upscale boutique, which in a town of about ten thousand means the pieces are better than you expect to find twenty-eight miles from Kansas City, and there are never many of each.
